Welcome

 to the Virtual Portfolio

 of Thia Nevius

Here you will find a rich assortment of art, masterfully created by one woman.

Her talent is expressed through oil paint, watercolor and acrylic as well as an art form known as Monotype*.

The art displayed here reflects the variety of styles and subjects Ms. Nevius has expertly addressed in her art career. She is equally acclaimed in landscape, figure, still life, abstract and representational art. Her work hangs in corporate offices in Japan, Los Angeles, and Chicago as well as private collections in France, Italy, Germany, Washington D.C., Texas, California and the Southwest.

* A monotype is an original, one of a kind print. The hand-pulled print is made from a plate covered with etching inks where the art is created and then printed on paper.

Throughout her career

Ms. Nevius has used watercolor as an ongoing medium.

Her watercolors have a free, fluid freshness that make them sparkle.

Ms. Nevius has a passion for figure drawing.

Throughout her career she has returned to figures,

drawing them surrealistically in oils and acrylics, abstractly in monotypes, and in sometimes putting them in watercolors.

Her abstract paintings have a rich translucent quality, with many glazes and layers like a watercolor. The Davis Educational Art series recognized her talent and focused on her unique ability to render light. “Her pictures seem to glow from within.”

An art critic wrote,

"The prints stand up well against

work by such recognized artists as

 Andy Warhol and Lowell Nesbitt".

There is an almost mythological presence about Ms. Nevius’

figures that sometimes appear with an inherent grace as black silhouettes with subtle definitions on sensuously colored backgrounds.” “Technically, it takes the most subtle yet disciplined control of color and material to create a mixed media statement as sensitive and beautiful as Thia Nevius’.”
